Mitch Thompson

Director of Public Safety

Mitch had a 28-year career in law enforcement, retiring in 2018. He came into a growing suburban area agency which allowed him to gain tremendous experience in law enforcement and leadership, having the ability to serve in multiple roles in patrol, field trainer, instructor, investigations, command level, and Chief. In addition to gaining invaluable experience in law enforcement, Mitch is also a graduate of the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy (Session #202) and F.B.I. Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (Session #50). During his career focused on people and processes, Mitch was involved with the implementation of many technological advancements in his career to include mobile data computer, in-car video solutions, less-lethal implementation including the Taser, and even oversaw the construction of a new police headquarters. Upon retirement, Mitch worked with a local Technology Consulting firm as a Senior Consultant. This invaluable experience is what led him to his current role.

At Word Systems Mitch has broad input on all public safety solutions. Bridging his experience in law enforcement, leadership, and technology has led to the unique insight as both client and vendor. Empathy and problem-solving are at the core of success, as Word Systems must deliver best-in-class solutions that work 100% of the time. Mitch understands that, in public safety, there must be professional delivery of services with full confidence in the product.

In his free time, Mitch enjoys being active outdoors with friends and family biking, hiking, or simply enjoying some social time.
